Lessonspace Integration

This add-on lets you integrate with Lessonspace for online, one-on-one or group lessons using the most versatile collaborative space for online tutors.  Teachworks customers qualify for lower priced plans, reduced rates for additional hours, and API access on all plans.

Getting Started

To enable this add-on, go to Account & Settings > Integrations & Add-Ons > Lessonspace > Enable. Once enabled, a Lessonspace account will be automatically generated for you when you submit the form.

NOTE: If you already have a Lessonspace account, there shouldn't be issues connecting it with to your Teachworks account if it is the same email address by simply enabling the add-on.

However, if it is currently linked to another platform account you will get this message: Your email address is already linked to a different external account on Lessonspace. Please contact Lessonspace to unlink your email address to make it available for Teachworks.

Choosing a Server Location

You can select the Lessonspace server closest to your location to optimize video speed and quality during online lessons. You can go to Account & Settings > Integrations & Add-Ons > Lessonspace Integration > Settings > Select Server Location to select the server location closest to your physical location. 

Existing spaces will use the server location that was set at the time a space was created, even if the server location is later updated to a different location.

Accessing Lesson Recordings

If you have Lesson Recordings enabled in your Lessonspace account, you can access lesson recordings from Lessonspace in your Teachworks account.  For more information, please see this article: Accessing Lesson Recordings

Save Email Addresses in Lessonspace

You can automatically save the email addresses of your students or teachers when their profiles are created within Lessonspace by enabling this setting.

Usage

1. Scheduling

Once you’ve enabled the add-on, an “Online Lesson Space” item will be added to your Location list. When scheduling an online lesson, make sure to select this location.

2. Accessing Lessonspace from Teachworks

To access the online lesson space, click on the blue “Launch Online Lesson Space” button. 

The button (and link included in the lesson reminder email) is specific to individual users. In other words, the button displayed in a teacher’s account will add them to the lesson as a teacher. The button displayed in the student's account will add them to the lesson as a student (it will also display the student’s name).

3. Where to find the button in Teachworks

Admin & Employees

Calendar:

• Click on the relevant lesson in the calendar
• Click the “View” link
• Click the blue “Launch Online Lesson Space” button

Dashboard (Upcoming Lesson Widget):

• Click on the lesson title and then on the blue “Launch Online Lesson Space” button.

Customers:

Customers can find the button by going to the main calendar, clicking on the lesson and then clicking the “View” link. The button is also included on their Lesson History page when clicking on the name of the lesson as well as on their profile under the “Upcoming Lessons” section.

4. Lesson Reminder Emails

If the {LOCATION} merge tag is included in your reminder templates (this is included by default), a clickable link will be included in the email to make it easier for teachers and students to join an online lesson space.

How online meeting spaces are created

Lessonspace uses the concept of “spaces” which are unique online meeting spaces. Anything saved in a space remains in the space when you go back to it. When you click on the button in Teachworks or the link included in lesson reminder emails, the relevant space will be launched based on the assigned student and teacher. If anything has been added to the space in previous lessons, it will still be accessible. 

Teachworks automatically creates spaces for your online tutoring sessions in Lessonspace. Spaces are created for the following three types of lessons:

1. Single Student & Teacher - a unique space is created for any sessions with the same student and teacher.
2. Single Group Lessons - a unique space is created for each group lesson that is not part of a repeating series.
3. Repeating Group Lessons - a unique space is created for repeating group lessons that have the same teacher.

NOTE: When making updates to a repeating series of group lessons, any changes made will not affect the series id.  The same Lessonspace "space" will continue to be used.
