Group Lessons

Teachworks allows you to schedule group lessons for your students. This article will look at the process in more detail:

1. Scheduling a group lesson

To schedule a group lesson, follow these steps:

1. Add a new lesson (you can click on a time slot in the calendar or go to Calendar > Add Lessons).
2. Click in the “Students” field and select a student from the list to add to the lesson. You can also begin typing their name in the field.
3. Continue step 2 to add additional students to the lesson - the names of the students will appear in the students field.

2. Adding a student to a repeating series

In some cases, you may need to add a student to a repeating group lesson. If the student is joining the class on a different date than all other students in the series, and /or the student's last lesson is before the series is done, you will need to add them to the series following these steps:

As an example, if you have a group lesson that goes every Friday from October 1st  - December 30th and a student is joining the repeating series on October 25th but will end on Dec 15th.  

Go to the calendar and select the lesson series the student needs to join on October 25th (First lesson student needs to join)  add the student and click on "Apply to Current & Future Lessons"

Then, to remove the student from the series before it ends go to the lesson in the series that occurs after the student's last lesson remove the student and click on "Apply to Current & Future Lessons". You need to make sure you select the lesson after the student's last lesson, as you still want to include him in that class but not in the next occurring lesson.

3. Assigning students to a group to speed up scheduling

If you have specific groups of students that meet regularly, you may want to create predefined student groups -- these groups can quickly be added to lessons in bulk.

4. Setting Lesson Costs

The lesson cost for each student in the group will be determined by the billing settings on their respective profiles.

You can only assign one service to a group lesson, so if students have their billing method set to “Use Service List Price”, the selected service will be used to determine their lesson cost.

5. Wages for group lessons

The wage for an employee will depend on the wage settings on their profile and will not update as students are removed or added to the lesson.
